With producer Stacey Mindich, this Broadway transfer of a hit off-Broadway musical officially opens on December 4th at the Belasco Theatre, with previews beginning November 14th.

Ben Platt of Pitch Perfect, who let the New York and world premiers of the musical, will be coming back to star as Evan Hansen. Platt will also be joined by co-stars of Second Stage, including Rachel Bay Jones, Laura Dreyfuss, Mike Faist, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Kristolyn Lloyd and Will Roland. Michael Park, Emmy Award winner who started the role of Larry Murphy at the Arena Stage In Washington DC, also returns for this Broadway production. The casting is done by Tara Rubin Casting.

Since the production was announced at Second Stage Theatre, the transfer has been highly anticipated. The off-Broadway premier took flight on May 1st following previews that got their start on March 26th and then quickly sold out for the entire limited run that ended on May 29th.

The score includes original music by the Emmy and Tony nominated songwriting team of Justin Paul and Benji Pasek, and a book by Steven Levenson, choreographed by Danny Medford and direction from a three time Tony nominee by the name of Michael Greif.

Ignited by the death in real life at Pasek’s high school longer than a decade ago, Dear Even Hansen follows along with one student’s struggle for his identity amidst a world of chaos. The production had a world premier in the summer of 2015 in Washington DC at Arena Stage.
